There are many resources and supports for persons with disabilities available through  Vocational Rehabilitation - Florida Department of Education.
  • Locations/ Days and Hours? 210 N. Palmetto Avenue, Suite 144, Daytona Beach, FL 32114, currently services at this location are being held remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  If individuals prefer face to face meetings with counselors, they may seek services in our St. Augustine (25 Deltona Blvd., Suite 3, St. Augustine, FL 32086) or Orange City (2754 Enterprise Rd., Orange City, FL 32763) offices. Vocational Rehabilitation serves participant’s from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • How do I participate? You may be eligible for Vocational Rehabilitation services if your goal is to become employed and:  (1) Your physical or mental disability interferes with your ability to become employed, and   (2) You need VR’s help to find or keep a job.  If you receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for your disability, you are presumed eligible for VR services if you plan to become employed.
  • Primary Purpose? Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) is a federal-state program that helps people who have physical or mental disabilities get or keep a job. VR is committed to helping people with disabilities find meaningful careers.
  • Main Goals? A variety of services may be provided to assist with employment, depending on your needs, such as: Medical and Psychological Assessment, Vocational Evaluation and Planning, Career Counseling and Guidance, Work Experience While in High School, Training and Education After High School, Job-Site Assessment and Accommodations, Job Placement, Job Coaching, On-the-Job Training, Supported Employment, Assistive Technology and Devices, and Time-Limited Medical and/or Psychological Treatment.  VR must make an eligibility decision within 60 days following the submission of a completed application. If VR cannot make an eligibility determination within 60 days due to exceptional and/or unforeseen circumstances, the individual and counselor must agree to a specific extension of time.  VR must complete an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) within 90 days following the completion of eligibility.   
  • How to Sign Up? Individuals may sign up for VR by calling our mainline at 386-281-6764.  Individuals may also complete referrals for service and review the orientation video online and complete and sign the attestation form here: http://rehabworks.org/.  Referral forms for VR services were attached to this email and may be faxed to 386-226-0297 or emailed to VR Supervisor: Cynthia.Tucker@vr.fldoe.org
